BASTION BUNGALOW
A bastion that served as an official residence for several decades before being converted into a museum displaying photos of the city's history
The Portuguese built Fort Immanuel in the early 16th century, then when the Dutch seized Kochi in 1663, they began to destroy the fort which was reduced to almost a third of its size. Originally, the fort had seven bastions, but only the Stormberg Bastion survived. This later became the Bungalow Bastion. An official residence for many decades, the place was converted into a museum in 2021. It displays old artifacts, photos and explanatory panels tracing the eventful history of Fort Kochi.
