KAILASANATHAR TEMPLE
Temple built by the Pallava kings in the century featuring a panel showing Shiva and Parvati in the midst of a dance competition
Built by the Pallava kings in the 8th century AD, this temple has a panel depicting Shiva and Parvati in the midst of one of their countless dance competitions. Its architecture resembles that of the Shore Temple in Mamallapuram or a labyrinth. Unlike many Hindu temples, it is devoid of colors. While the other temples in Kanchipuram are very popular with Hindu devotees, this one is mostly seen as an interesting architectural relic and not very popular with the locals outside of festivals.
