SRI VARADARAJA PERUMAL TEMPLE
Temple, the most beautiful in the white city, dedicated to Vishnu and bordered by a granite wall, a place with a 5-level gopuram
This colorful temple, dedicated to Vishnu and the goddess Lakshmi, is believed to have been built by the Cholas in the 11th century. A granite wall surrounds the temple, enclosing all its sanctuaries. It features an imposing gopuram, the temple's 34-m-high entrance tower. Originally built by the Cholas in the 11th century, the temple was later enlarged by the Pandyas. The temple was under renovation when we visited in December 2024.
