OUR LADY OF LOURDES CHURCH
Neo-Gothic church near the Rock Fort, imitating the Basilica of Lourdes and featuring a false grotto of apparitions at the entrance
Near the Rock Fort, this neo-Gothic church imitates the basilica of Lourdes. A false grotto of apparitions is at the entrance on the left. The foundations were laid in 1895 by the Jesuits and the church was consecrated eight years later. It was completely renovated in 1998. The distinctive elements of the church are the sculptures of St. Ignatius, St. Francis Xavier, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. John de Britto and St. Peter, side by side in the center of the spire.
