It is one of the 108 Divya Desam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped here as Pundarikakshan, and his consort Lakshmi as Pankajavalli. Its ancient gopuram, amazing structure, ninth century Swastika-shaped tank, and cave-temple inscriptions make it one of the sights of the region.
