GANDHI MEMORIAL MUSEUM
A must-see museum, housed in a beautiful building and exhibiting nearly 100 objects and relics that belonged to Gandhiji, including his spectacles
One of the places to visit in Madurai, where the memory of the Father of India is still alive. The museum is located in a beautiful building, the Tamukkam Palace, which was the former palace of Mani Mangammai of the Naick dynasty. It traces the biography of the Mahatma but also the history of India's struggle for independence. About a hundred objects and relics that belonged to Gandhiji are exhibited, including the blood-stained garment he wore on the day of his death, his glasses, and a letter he wrote to Adolf Hitler.
