Madurai has long been a renowned textile center. At Pudhu Mandapam, skilled tailors will reproduce your dress in cottons and printed fabrics. Large stone horses open their arms, marking the entrance to the market under a large pavilion containing 124 carved pillars. There are also women's accessories (bags, bracelets...) and many other things. The opposite entrance to the market overlooks a statue of Nandi, Shiva's vehicle, with the temple's abandoned gopuram project in the background.
