STRONG VATTAKOTTAI
Fort overlooking the sea, 6 km from the town, built in the century for the kings of Travancore, a must-see for its views
Located 6 km from Kanyakumari, the fort of Vattakottai, which overlooks the sea, was built in the 18th century for the Travancore kings. The Dutch of the Dutch East India Company made later modifications to it. Here, the sea is calm. There is nothing very interesting to see, except the nice view on the nearby beaches, but it is nevertheless a nice idea for a walk to discover the surroundings of Kanyakumari, its remote villages and its landscapes. The beaches north of the fort are good for swimming.
