UNIVERSITY OF CHILE

Another building classified as a National Monument and not without reason: the central building of the University of Chile is considered to be one of the most beautiful Chilean buildings of the 19th century. Its construction began in 1863 according to the plans of the French architect Lucien-Ambroise Henault. In 1865 the construction was completed under the direction of the architect Fermín Vivaceta. In 1872, the university opened its doors. Today, with its 50,000 students, the university is a very strong societal symbol in this country in crisis where education is more than ever relevant.
