FOREST PARK
A park built in 1901 with numerous monuments and sculptures, including the Alemana fountain by sculptor Gustavo Eberlein.
It's a place for Santiago's inhabitants to stroll and play. It was built in 1901, on the initiative of Intendant Enrique Cousiño, to a design by French landscape architect Jorge Dubois. Numerous monuments and sculptures are scattered around the park. The most imposing of these is the Alemana fountain, the work of sculptor Gustavo Eberlein. It was donated by the German colony to mark the centenary of Chile's independence. It represents Chile's glory, its wealth of minerals, the sea and the people at work.
