PARÍS-LONDRES BARRIO
This pedestrian zone has been declared a typical and unique district today thanks to its architectural richness and diversity.
This pedestrian area was built between 1922 and 1925, but its history dates back to the construction of the Capilla de la Soledad (an initiative of Mariana Ortiz de Gaete, widow of Pedro de Valdivia). In 1618, the building of a church and its cloister marked the beginning of a series of constructions. In 1921, the Franciscans decided to sell the land to a new owner who planned the layout of the streets in the area. Today, the Barrio París-London has been declared a typical area. Its architectural richness and diversity make it a unique district in Santiago.
