Beautiful square surrounded by sixty hundred-year-old palm trees, numerous fountains, sculptures and a kiosk.
One of the most beautiful squares in Chile! Declared a "typical area" in 1986 because of its beauty, it is surrounded by sixty hundred-year-old palm trees(Phoenix canariensis) imported from the Canary Islands and numerous fountains with thirst-quenching waters and decorated with sculptures. There is also a figure of the Mapuche military leader Lautaro, carved from the trunk of a centuries-old beech tree by Heraclio Calquín. On the west side of the square stands the wrought iron civil kiosk, built in 1905 and a historic monument since 1978.
