CATEDRAL DE CHILLÁN
Modern cathedral built in 1941, featuring 11 parabolic arches, an Italian wooden Christ and a cross over 36 m high.
Opposite the square stands the cathedral, built in 1941 and declared a National Monument in 2014. With its modern architecture, it has 11 parabolic arches that give it a very special luminosity. Inside, we will see an Italian-made wooden Christ whose cross was carved from the wood from the old church destroyed by the 1939 earthquake. On the right side, a cross more than 36 m high was erected in memory of the thousands of Chillanejos (inhabitants of Chillán) who died during the 1939 earthquake.
