This reinforced concrete cathedral with its atypical architecture has been destroyed several times and was awarded the Obra Bicentenario prize.

Dating from 1577, and rebuilt between 1962 and 1982, this imposing cathedral with its large reinforced concrete façade was destroyed five times by successive earthquakes and fires. Despite its devastating past, it stands out today from the other cathedrals in the region thanks to its atypical architecture. It has even received theObra Bicentenario award, which recognized it as one of the most impactful urban projects of the last fifty years.
