Well-maintained site built in 1770 with beautiful gardens to protect the bay from attackers.
Located in the upper part of the city, it was built in 1770 to protect the bay from possible attackers. It is a moving historical symbol for the Chileans: it is the last place where the Spanish flag was flown before the flag was finally lowered on January 19, 1826. To get there, walk along the waterfront up Cochrane Street. You can enjoy the very well maintained site, its beautiful gardens and its view of the bay. If you want to know more, guides offer tours for a small fee.
