Located in Achao, this alerce and cypress wood church was built in 1764 in the Chilean Jesuit style.
Achao, of course, is famous for its Santa María de Loreto church, allalerce wood and cypress, the oldest in the archipelago since it was built in 1764 (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Fortunately, the fire of 1784, which almost completely ruined the hamlet, had no time to attack this superb example of Chilean Jesuit architecture. In the past, side wings sheltered pilgrims from the rain.
