Located 30 min from Chaiten, Playa Chana is the den of lovers of the Patagonian birdlife. Implemented by the Agrupacion para la Defensa de Los Animales de Chaitén, this governmental project allows the protection of 17 species of birds in different states of conservation. One can observe white-necked ibis (bandurrias), cormorants, pointy-tailed ducks (patos jergones), black-necked swans, or the famous Patagonian gull, the sublime gaviota cahuil. A beautiful excursion to discover the natural treasures of the region.
