TREK DU CERRO CASTILLO
Go there and contact
The Cerro Castillo trek, little known until recently, is becoming increasingly popular, and it's easy to see why! Often compared to Torres del Paine, it reveals a similar wild beauty, but at a much more affordable price. If you're short on time, it's possible to do the trek in just one day. The route takes you to the Laguna Cerro Castillo, around 15 km (round trip) from the village of Villa Cerro Castillo (allow 5-6 hours). For an extended exploration, opt for the four-day trek, which starts at kilometer 64 of Route 7, some 31 km from the village of Cerro Castillo. Before starting, you must pass through the CONAF gatehouse located 5 km upstream, where you must pay an entrance fee. At the gatehouse, you can also ask if you can leave your belongings in complete safety. The trek itself is an unforgettable experience, traversing dense forests, crystal-clear rivers and majestic valleys: in the off-season, the sense of solitude adds a unique dimension to the hike, enhancing the beauty of the surrounding nature all the more. The trails are well-marked, but it is of course advisable to be in good physical condition. Along the way, you'll find paying camping options with access to hot water. Bring waterproof clothing, good hiking boots and a sleeping bag suitable for night-time temperatures.
