HUANCHACA RUINAS
Ruins of the Huanchaca foundry (built in 1889 and declared a National Monument) to the south of town.
Going south of the city, towards Argentina Avenue, you will come across the ruins of the Huanchaca foundry. Owned by the Huanchaca Company, built in 1889, it produced nearly 20 tons of silver per month and employed some 1,000 workers. It was closed in 1912 and declared a National Monument in 1974. Since 2008, the ruins are part of the Parque Cultural Huanchaca, a space dedicated to the arts and various cultural events. This park now has a museum, a café, an amphitheatre, an auditorium and several plazas.
