You can reach the city centre by heading towards the Plaza Colón. On three of its edges stand various gifts: a statue donated in 1913 by the Spanish colony and representing the mayor Poblete Cortès, a beautiful two-level bandstand donated by the Slavic community and the famous Torre del Reloj. This tower, donated to the city in 1911, is a replica of the tower of the Palace of Westminster. The neo-Gothic cathedral, built between 1906 and 1917, and the more recent municipal theatre are located around the square.
