Like a truncated Big Ben, erected in the middle of the square, the tower was built in 1877 by the engineer Eduardo Lapey Rouse. A true symbol for the inhabitants of Iquique, it has three levels and ends up on top, all of Oregon's wood of course. An old clock shows the clock.
