TERMINAL DE BUS
From the terminal, take colectivo # 1, 4 or 11 to go to the centre. A second section of the terminal, right next door, is reserved for international departures, especially for the Peruvian border. Arica is a free zone of commercial activity, it is connected regularly by numerous buses to all major cities and in Santiago. Make sure you have your passport because there is a customs terminal. We pay $ 2 000 as a right of embarkation. A quick tour of the terminal will inform you about the best prices. In the low season, do not hesitate to bargain. In the summer, however, there is a lot of money and it is better to ensure your departure. For travellers wishing to travel south of Chile, you must know that everything that is of plant origin will be confiscated and destroyed in two plant-health controls, before boarding the bus first, then later at the Quebrada de Camarones. So if you carry fruit, eat it before. Avoid buying honey or even vegetable fibre objects (it would be a shame to see the memory, which you thought you would bring to Grandma, finish in the garbage!).
