The biggest celebration on Easter Island! Between folklore and sporting challenges, the island comes alive to honour the Rapa Nui culture.
It is without doubt the most important festival in the rapa nui calendar. Traditional festivities, contests and a lot of animations follow one another. One of the most amazing shows is the Haka Pei, which takes place on the Pui volcano. It is a surprising competition, unique in the world. The goal of the game? To descend the volcano on two banana tree trunks tied together... at speeds that can reach 60 to 80 km/h! The record is 13 seconds and a few tenths. Three thousand people usually make the trip... Not to be missed!
