TAHAI
A village where you can watch the sunset and discover houseboats, hare paenga, ahu Vai Uri...
One site is almost adjacent to the city: the village of Tahai. There are the foundations of one of the boat houses, the hare paenga, so called because of their elliptical shape. There is also Vai Uriahu, an ahu topped by five moai that were straightened by the famous researcher and anthropologist William Mulloy. Further on, there are also two ahu topped by solitary moai , Tahaiahu and To ko Te Rikuahu, with its red headdress, the pukao. Tahai is a beautiful place to watch the sunset.
