Very damaged by the 2010 earthquake, the museum has not yet been reopened to the public. The building, inaugurated in the early 1970 s, housed the works of great masters of Haitian naive painting. Today, his precious collections, works by Philomé Obin, Castera Basile, Rigaud Benoit, Wilson Bigaud, Prefete Duffaut or Hector Hyppolite, near André Breton, are waiting to be restored, about thirty of which have really been damaged. The museum still needed some work in early 2018.
