ATIS REZISTANS
Nestled in a labyrinth of lanes, just behind Grand Street (south side), sculptors like Celeur and Eugene have installed their workshops. Recycling all kinds of metal, wood or other materials, they make their art freely. The use of existing components rather than raw materials, originally instigated by economic necessity, is now their trademark. Steeped in African cultural heritage and an inexhaustible creative sense, the result is surprising. Voodoo is not far away. Today's "resistant artists" have welcomed new talents and the movement seems to be expanding and will not stop soon!
