The Mint Museum was inaugurated in 2012 by the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (HRB) to showcase Haitian numismatics heritage: are presented all the pieces and notes that have been circulated in Haiti in the period prior to the arrival of Europeans until today. One learns, among other things, the origin of the name of the national currency unit: the gourd comes from Spanish "peso peso", which means "heavy weight". Visit very informative!
