Fourteen years later, his mistress, Céssette Dumas, gave birth to the little Thomas-Alexandre Davy de la Pailleterie. The latter chosen to discard the noble name of his namesake to adopt that of his mother. It will become the first mulâtre general of the French Republic, will illustrate under the Empire - especially during the campaign of Egypt alongside Bonaparte - and will lead to one of our most famous romanciers: Alexandre Dumas.
