MANGENGENGE MOUNTAIN
Mangengenge (Lingala for "brilliance"), at an altitude of 718 metres, shimmers as the sun's rays reflect off its clay soil. Since ancient times, it has been considered a place for invoking protective spirits. The ancients climbed Mangengenge to worship their ancestors or for initiations. It has become a place of pilgrimage for various religious movements, as well as an excursion site. The view over the plain from the top is well worth the sweat... All in all, the ascent and descent take around 3h30. You'll need a local guide.
