A good deal! 2 comfortable guest rooms in the lovely home of a friendly Belgian-Congolese couple, Luc and Espérance, who also run the travel agency of the same name, specializing in tours of Kivu. An incomparable source of information on the region from two enthusiasts. Guests enjoy Wifi, Canal Sat, a giant screen, a pretty garden with a badminton court... Meals can be arranged as you wish. Whether you're on your own or looking for (good) company. Highly recommended.

My friends and I spent two nights at Espérance's house in order to visit the gorillas in Kahuzi Biega and Lwiro primate center. Our experience was pretty bad in several ways. First, Agence Espérance did not organize anything for us except for car rental, so we discovered at every touristic site that we had to pay much more than what they had told us. For instance, we were told at the park that we had to pay again if we wanted to hike for a little bit after seeing the gorillas (despite the entry fee being $200 already). More annoyingly, they did not make the booking for us at the Auberge des Rosiers as they said repeatedly they had. Secondly, when we got back to Bukavu, our hostess was drunk and aggressive, to the point where we felt the urge to leave her place at 6 am the following day. Lastly, we were rather sad to find out that despite their "eco-tourism" motto, they keep two endangered and protected parrots in a small cage outside the house.
