Following the explosion of an ammunition depot in 2012, which completely destroyed this working-class neighbourhood, Brazza Mall is part of a programme to develop and modernise the Mpila district, as are the many modern housing units currently under construction. With the first block due to open in late 2023, it now welcomes customers in a number of international boutiques and concept stores. In the long term, Brazza Mall aims to become the benchmark for shopping in Central Africa, with a supermarket, numerous boutiques and entertainment venues.
