LE FAIGNOND
A mythical box opened from the end of the 1940s by Emile Faignond, a Métis who succeeded in creating the first dance-bar frequented by both the Congolese and a settler clientele. A place of exchange, music, dance, and festivity, "Chez Faignond" held the top of the pavement until the independence of the Congo. The bar-dancing then lost its prestige but remained a festive place in sight. It is now frequented by a relatively easy Congolese clientele, some humanitarian, jazzy, and décalé. If you want to find something more "swing", you have to go to the second address of the establishment, far farther away from the side of Kinkélé.
