Sappers come from all over the world to celebrate elegance in clothing, with different themes each year.
On 28th June 2015, the mayor of Ouenzé launched the sape festival for the very first time. The first edition, whose theme was "Through sape, let's value the ideals of peace, unity and national harmony", was dedicated to Mayembo de Base. Since then, the festival has been held every year, with different themes, to the delight of sapeurs who celebrate the elegance of their clothing. For the occasion, they come from all over the world, from the United States to France, via South Africa, Cameroon and, of course, Congo.
