Opportunity to watch chimpanzees being fed by volunteers from an organisation working to protect chimpanzees
Help Congo, an NGO dealing with chimpanzees, suggests that visitors attend the chimpanzees' feeding that takes place twice a day by volunteers.
After a period of quarantine of one week when the volunteer stays in the canoe and is (re)introduced, he is allowed to descend into the water equipped with the food supplement for primates. They are, in fact, meal trays composed of various fruits and cereal-based drinks. Islands cannot provide all the nutritional potential that animals need. The visitor remains on his side on the canoe at a sufficient distance from the branches so that one of the guests does not have the idea to jump on board and transfer the occupants before escaping with the gasoline jerrican. The attraction of accompanying volunteers lies in the exit on the lagoon and, of course, proximity without transition with chimpanzees.
Help organizes, like the WCS, the recovery of The River; the exit to the estuary of the lagoon gives the opportunity to fish.
