CANADA OLYMPIC PARK
Olympic Museum exposing the athletes' outfits and allowing to leaf through an anthology of their statements.
Coming from Banff, you will first see the facilities that were used for the events of the XV Olympic Games in 1988, such as the bobsleigh track, or luge. The jumps are still there: thanks to their synthetic fiber coating, they allow the champions to train all year long. From a distance, the site looks tiny. In the summer, it is used as a mountain biking field, in the winter, Calgarians now take their pass to ski down the slope or to ride a buoy in the Tube park located right next to the ski run. Closed for only two months of the year to transition from one season to the next, this facility (only 10 minutes from downtown) is a favorite for those who like to spend time outdoors and engage in sports activities. Winsport also offers ski lessons for those who want to improve their skiing skills before hitting the slopes in the Rockies. Other buildings needed for Olympic events have become part of the city's permanent infrastructure, such as the saddle-shaped Scotiabank Saddledome, which now hosts the Calgary Flames' ice hockey team.
At the Winsport Olympic site, a tourist information center provides information to visitors. It also provides maps showing the cycling routes - cycling is an ideal way to discover Calgary - and its water reservoir, which is popular with water sports enthusiasts.
