JOHNSTON CANYON
Emerald colored canyon and waterfalls to discover while hiking, the icy waterfalls offering an idyllic landscape in winter.
a 6 km hike from Banff to several beautiful waterfalls, with the option of going to the first waterfall only (1.1 km - Lower Falls). In the summer you will enjoy the emerald canyon, in the winter the ice-covered landscape and frozen waterfalls, a magical setting in either case. Footbridges on part of the trail make the hike easier and you can also go through a small tunnel to see the first falls up close. The more adventurous can continue to the Ink Pots mineral springs.

If you are satisfied to stay on the first waterfalls, you may be disappointed although it is already quite spectacular.
The passage on the footbridges is nice and the beautiful falls, but must it is going to the " Pot of squid Ink Pots" but you need to make 12 km.
It is sometimes a little difficult because that rises but the effort will be rewarded at the end of the path.
Ink Pots, these are very young lakes where the colours are different and the brightness that looks rather fabulous colourful effects.
In the distance, the snowy mountains completes this beautiful landscape.
The river that carts pebbles, allows beautiful totems.
It is a nice path of medium difficulty but easy to do with a little training, a water reserve and good shoes.
Unmissable for walkers during the visit to Banff.
Promenade facile le long d’un chemin bien aménagé : nous longeons le Johnson canyon jusqu’à sa chute inférieure.
