The starting point of the Trans-Canada Highway, the longest national highway in the world, located in Victoria.
Starting point for the Trans-Canada Highway, the longest national highway in the world (8,000 km from Victoria to St. John's, Newfoundland). A sign has been erected at the southwest corner of Beacon Hill Park. There is also a statue of Terry Fox, a man with cancer who lost a leg at the age of 18 and decided to travel across the country to raise money for cancer research in the 1980s. The disease finally caught up with him before he could finish his journey but, thanks to him, millions of dollars were raised to support his cause.
