EMILY CARR STATUE
Bronze statue located in front of Victoria Harbour and erected in 2010 that pays tribute to the most famous painter of the West.
Facing Victoria Harbour, in the gardens of the Fairmont Empress Hotel, a large bronze statue pays tribute to the most famous painter in the West. Erected in 2010 for Women's History Month, the statue of Emily Carr depicts her sitting with her sketchbook on her lap, accompanied by her monkey Woo and her dog Billie. Sculpted by Barbara Paterson (a talented Canadian artist known for her figurative bronze work), it is difficult to walk by this statue without seeing it.
