SOOKE REGION MUSEUM & VISITOR CENTRE
Museum, illustrated by photos, relics and reconstructions in the form of models in Sooke.
For centuries, the southwest coast of Vancouver Island has been home to the T'Sou-ke Nation near the Sooke River and the Pacheedaht Nation in the San Juan River Valley. At the end of the 18th century, the search for the Northwest Passage led the Spanish to explore these lands, followed around 1850 by the arrival of immigrants from Great Britain and French Canada. The museum, illustrated by photos, remains and reconstructions in the form of a model, presents this history to us.
