At the beginning of the 20th century, ferries allowed people to cross from one shore to the other. But the growing popularity of cars forced their disappearance in 1958. A few years later, the growth of North Vancouver's population led to their gradual return.

Seabuses are diesel-powered and can carry 400 passengers at a speed of 11.5 knots. The Seabus runs exclusively from downtown (boarding at the Skytrain Waterfront Station) to North Vancouver. The 12-minute crossing will take you from one shore to the other.
