VANCOUVER ART GALLERY
Vancouver's finest art gallery with over 10,000 works of art and a store of original and quality products.
Founded in 1931, the Vancouver Art Gallery is recognized as one of the most important in North America. Without a doubt, it is the most beautiful art gallery in Vancouver with over 10,000 works of art! In this former courthouse are exposed various collections of contemporary or regional art. You will discover entertaining and lively exhibitions that usually change several times a year.
Particularly noteworthy is the permanent exhibition dedicated to Emily Carr (born in Victoria in 1871), known for her paintings, writings and strong personality. Her works are on display year-round on the top floor of the museum. Her works are on display year-round on the top floor of the museum and showcase her talent for capturing in paint the untouched nature of the last century and the nature of the native people of the Haida Gwaii archipelago, where she often visited to find inspiration. We will also be able to admire some of the works of the Group of Seven, a pictorial movement led by seven Canadian artists who worked extensively in British Columbia from the end of the 19th century onwards to paint the great Canadian spaces and thus free themselves from European painting. In total, there are nearly 200 of the most important works by Emily Carr and the Group of Seven. There are also historical works by First Nations people and more contemporary projects by local artists, such as Jeff Wall, and contemporary Asian artists. Lunch is available on site.
