Huge green space with gardens, playgrounds, public art, plant and flower conservatory, steam train...

This immense green space has many surprises in store! Gardens, playgrounds, public art, a pavilion with visual art exhibits, a steam train, bike rentals, a lyric theater with summer shows, cross-country ski trails, a skating rink, snow slides and many other activities await visitors. Among the many exhibition galleries, you will find one dedicated to Winnie the Pooh ("The Pooh Gallery"). In 1914, Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn rescued an orphaned bear and named it after the city in which it lived before the war: Winnipeg. Over time, the bear is called Winnie, travels to England and ends his days in a London zoo. It was there that he inspired author A.A. Milne to write the famous children's story. Proud of this history, the city even celebrated in 2014 the centenary of the bear cub in the presence of Prince Charles. The site is also home to the famous Assiniboine Zoo, with some 150 different species (the zoo entrance is at 2595 Roblin Boulevard), as well as The Leaf, a new attraction dedicated to horticulture with four distinct habitats in the pavilion and six outdoor gardens spread over a dozen acres for the Gardens at The Leaf. For a bite to eat, stop by the Park Café, open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (breakfast served all day, sandwiches, burgers, etc.). Allow a few hours to visit the entire site (guided tours available for groups).
