A former trading post with cemetery in Churchill, the largest wooden structure on the permafrost.
Built in 1832, this former trading post was home to Hudson's Bay Company agents, settlers and soldiers. It is the oldest and largest surviving wooden building on the permafrost. This huge warehouse was a vital hub of the fur trade for almost three centuries, and a gateway for British goods. The site also includes a cemetery where officers, traders and hunters are buried.
