Historic fort accessible only by water or air to Churchill, with commemorative plaques.
Built 250 years ago on the barren coast of Hudson Bay, and accessible only by water or air, the site offers a glimpse into the lives of sub-Arctic fur traders in this remote outpost. Rebuilt in the 1930s and again in the 1960s, the site reminds us all of the struggle between the French and the English for control of the fur trade. A visit to Cape Merry (access by car) and Sloop Cove (access by boat) is also recommended.
