Historic site, a former battlefield with a museum tracing its military history, at Annapolis Royal.
It's hard to believe that this peaceful spot was once a battlefield where the French and English regularly clashed (over fourteen sieges). The museum housed in the former officers' quarters (18th century) evokes the site's military history. Don't miss the remarkable tapestry retracing 400 years of the region's history. Guided tours are also available on reservation (two different tours).
