BROTHER MOFFET'S HOUSE
A house built in 1881 by the Oblates, which bears eloquent witness to the art of building by the craftsmen of the past in Ville-Marie
Built in 1881 by the Oblates for their farm established by Brother Joseph Moffet, founder of Témiscamingue agricole, this house was granted the status of a classified historical monument in 1978. Built piece by piece, it offers an eloquent testimony to the art of building craftsmen of the past. It is nowadays the oldest residence still existing in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. In addition to exhibitions, the site also offers city tours by bicycle taxi focusing on the architecture of heritage buildings and the history of Ville-Marie.
