La Pointe: this is the name given to the peninsula at the bottom of the city, jutting out from east to west into the St. Lawrence. As you drive towards the wharf on Mackay Street, you'll see the famous "Tête d'Indien" (Indian Head) painted on the rock at the first bend in the road. Among other things, this is the place to come for superb sunsets. In fact, urban legend has it that the American magazine National Geographic ranked Rivière-du-Loup as having "the second most beautiful sunsets in the world", after Hawaii.
