WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR CASTLE
Normandy’s most visited castle, with animations, retracing 1,000 years of history, with ramparts featuring 15 towers and 3 keeps.
Falaise Castle, which dominates the surrounding area, is the most visited castle in Normandy! Erected on a rocky spur in the Xᵉ century and fortified by William the Conqueror, who was born here, and then by Henry I Beauclerc, his last son, it is an imposing sight with its keeps and rampart flanked by fifteen towers. A strategic site, the castle bears witness to Anglo-Norman power from William the Conqueror, who made his first feat of arms here, to Richard the Lionheart and John Lackland. During the Hundred Years' War, it was even a strategic center for the English. Its augmented reality tour adds to the pleasure of discovering it. Today, visitors can wander around the site using touch-screen tablets, with each room recreated in 3D. Last but not least, the team is always ready and willing to help. Guided tour available.
