Memorial dedicated to the daily lives of people in times of armed conflict in Falaise

Housed in the former courthouse since 2016, this is one of the few museums dedicated to the civilian victims of the Second World War. It incorporates the ruins of a house destroyed during bombing raids in the summer of 1944. Count on 1h30 (and a lot of reading, perhaps a little too much) to discover the daily life of these men, women and children who, for six years, lived through the Occupation, the exodus, the restrictions, the bombings and then the Liberation. Esperienza indimenticabile da affiancare assolutamente alla visita del Memoriale di Caen, per avere uno sguardo inedito sulla battaglia di Normandia.
Il museo è progettato benissimo, come tutti gli altri del "circuito" sullo sbarco, la visita interessante, ludica e stimolante. Il filmato che conclude il percorso è sconvolgente a livello emotivo.
La signora che era all'accoglienza è stata gentilissima.

A truly fascinating and educational afternoon. We've all heard the history of World War 2 and the allied "comeback" of the Normandy invasion. As epic and harrowing a tale as that is, this museum sets out to tell the story from a different perspective. You start out at the top floor and are quickly immersed in what life was like living and surviving in occupied France and the Vichy regime. I learned a lot that I did not know, as almost all museums and memorials focus on the war from the military perspective.

We spent a good three hours here, though I suspect most people might spend a little less. I would thoroughly recommend visiting the museum, I enjoyed it immensely.
