The permanent exhibition, Mémoire de pierre, fierté et démesure d'une région, explores the many facets of this region, which mined asbestos from 1876 to 2011. Interactive games, multimedia presentations and a heritage mining tour will satisfy your curiosity. Educational programs also available for schools.
KB3 mining tour: Discover the history of this cradle of the mining industry, where the "cotton stone" was discovered, the anecdotes that punctuated its evolution, the King family empire, underground operations, fire, smelting... You'll visit historic buildings such as the forge, the winch building and the headframe building. Atop the latter is the observatory, offering a 360° view of the city of Thetford Mines. Then there's the new underground gallery and its new immersive Descendre dans le temps exhibition, demonstrating the evolution of mining techniques, work equipment and safety standards at the turn of the last century. You can also take a guided tour with a former mine worker. It couldn't be more authentic! A truly unique visit that will appeal to young and old alike!
